At Pelican, we are extremely proud of all our workers. Recently we spoke to Billy Saunders, one of our bus and coach engineers, about his experience working at Pelican.
Mirroring his family, Billy has always been interested in motor vehicles and ‘fixing stuff’. Prior to his current role, Billy had previous experience as an apprentice for another dealer, following that he worked at a bus depot. In comparison to other engineering careers, working as a bus and coach engineer for Pelican is not your standard job.
Billy explained what he loves about his role as a bus and coach engineer:
“Each day is different. Pre delivery inspection of a bus or coach, next day on a breakdown, another day on warranty work. Dealing with people on different levels. Next day out with managing director of a large bus fleet. It’s not your standard engineer’s job.”
What drew Billy to Pelican was the vast array of our new technologies and vehicles to work with. For Billy, joining Pelican felt like joining a family.
Billy’s favourite vehicle to work on is the TCe12 because:
“it has the modern technology of electric, but still the traditional build of a coach. I think it’s the vehicle of the future. Pelican has been great in developing my skillset by providing all training on electric side.”
Pelican is a great place to work. They really invest in their staff. I can see the long-term prospects due to internal promotion.
We are currently recruiting for two aftersales positions:
If you are interested in joining our busy aftersales team, please email your CV to Katrina.hogan@pelican-eng.co.uk to apply.
