We’re delighted to see that Newcastle International Airport’s new Net Zero Carbon 2035 Wall highlights it was the first UK airport to operate a fully-electric airside bus. It features photo of the two battery-electric vehicles we have supplied to them.
Pelican Bus & Coach were thrilled to be the airport’s chosen supplier to provide the zero tailpipe emission ABe13 in 2020. Newcastle International decided to invest in this electric Yutong vehicle as part of the first steps to fulfil its pledge to become Net Zero by the year 2035.
We delivered a second ZE airside bus to them in 2022. The Yutong ABe14 electric bus replaced an existing diesel bus saving approximately 4 Tonnes of C02e per year. The zero tailpipe emission vehicle can transport passengers between the aircraft and the terminal for up to three weeks between charges.
The battery-electric buses contribute to reducing both the airport’s carbon footprint and vehicle operating costs as well as offering passengers an enhanced experience on their journey to and from their aircraft.
We are delighted to support Newcastle International on its journey to Net Zero. Look out for the Net Zero Carbon 2035 display next time you visit the airport and learn more about the electric airside buses.
