Last week Simon Collins, Coach Manager at Pelican, attended Yutong’s launch of their YEA E-platform – the first EV-specific platform integrating software and hardware in the commercial vehicle industry.
The Yutong Electric Architecture (YEA) launch event was a global affair, attended by over 600 customer representatives and press from around the world and broadcast live, to explore the future development direction for new energy commercial vehicles. Whilst in China, Simon also visited the vast bus and coach production facilities, Yutong’s extensive vehicle testing resources, and travelled on a Yutong Autonomous bus around the industrial part of the factory.
Yutong says “YEA achieves seamless integration of software and hardware, significantly enhancing product safety, reliability, and efficiency. The platform delivers super-integration, scalability, and self-evolution, meeting the requirements of different commercial vehicle segments”.
“I was thrilled to be invited to show Pelican’s commitment to Yutong’s YEA launch at their headquarters in Zhengzhou last week. Pelican are proud to be part of Yutong;s Team Zero: I signed the Zero Carbon Declaration on behalf of Pelican to show our commitment to ZE vehicles alongside other Yutong Global suppliers.
It was a fabulous to see the depth and breadth of Yutong’s market-leading EV abilities. I think there will be some very positive benefits from YEA for UK and Irish operators, such as reduced operating costs, enhanced reliability and increased environmental features.
The Yutong facilities are extremely impressive, equipped with the latest technology and comprehensive vehicle testing resources to produce market-leading buses and coaches.
It was a pleasure to be accompanied by Mark Hodgson from Coatham Coaches and Tim Deakin from routeone.”
