Yutong have only ever used DC charging over their 25 years of bus and coach development – never AC charging. With DC charging, there is an isolator in the charger to prevent a fire or an overload of local infrastructure in the event of a fault or a short circuit. With AC charging, the battery is connected directly to the power grid, increasing the risk of problematic issues. Handling a DC charge gun is also safer than an AC equivalent.

Yutong electric vehicles can be specified with the following DC charging options:

  1. Dual 150kW sockets (non-liquid cooling) or 300kW single socket (liquid cooling).
  2. Individual ID technology to achieve dual-charging capability reach to 300kW (non-liquid cooling) and up to 500kW (liquid cooling).
  3. Pantograph 300kW
  4. Option of charge points on either or both sides.
